It is with profound sadness the family of Douglas (Wayne) Hardy announce his peaceful passing on November 2, 2021 at home in Sooke BC.
Wayne was born and raised in Victoria, BC, spent several years living in Shawnigan Lake and Calgary, AB before his love for Vancouver Island brought him home.
Wayne leaves to mourn; loving wife Jackie Jones, their two children Paige Hardy (Tim) and John Hardy (Erica); daughters Tanya Hardy (Paul); Kendall Hardy. He leaves his beloved Granddaughters Finley and Emery. He also leaves his siblings, Norma James, Helen Boyd, Bill Hardy (Pam), Ken Hardy, Sharon Banfield (Mark); as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and life-long friends. Wayne was predeceased by his eldest son Jason Hardy and his parents Arthur and Margaret Hardy.
At an early age he developed a passion for all things cars, turning this into a 30-year career in the auto parts industry. Later in life he developed a keen interest in building homes and became a master craftsman working for himself and others building homes in Shawnigan Lake, Cobble Hill, Calgary, AB and Royal Bay.
Over the years Wayne’s hobbies included car racing, fishing and crabbing, playing ball, and enjoying the simple pleasures of life; wood working, fixing things, Lucky Lager, cooking prime rib for Sunday dinner, and most of all, his family. His life was well lived and with few regrets.
Special thanks for the exceptional care provided by Dr. M Stanwood, Dr. S Parimi, Dr. Saibish, Dr. M Metcalfe, NP Janele Bellerive and Nurse Sasha. Hospice staff Jane and Roseanne.
UPDATE NOV 18, 2021: Wayne's celebration of life has been rescheduled until 2022. Please check back for updates.
