With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Shane Rhodes, a proud Saanich native, whose kindness and loyalty defined him. His favorite pastime was fishing, and the serenity of Prospect Lake held a special place in his heart, whether he was casting lines solo or with his lifelong best friend. Shane embraced life's adventures, with a passion for travel and a genuine love for all creatures, especially his feline friends.
Shane, a truly unique individual – one of a kind, spent his last years living his best life alongside Lena and the family they built. While his passing leaves an irreplaceable void, we will forever treasure the tales from his travels, his love for the tranquility of fishing, and the warmth of his caring spirit.
In honor of Shane, may his adventures live on in our memories and his acceptance of people for who they are inspire us. Rest easy, Shane.
Shane is mourned by his beloved spouse Lena, mother Heather, brothers Mike and Ian, niece Sòley, brother-in-law David, sister-in-law Inga, and all the hearts he brought joy to.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 3, from 11 am to 12 pm at Christ Community Church on Holland Ave. In lieu of flowers, we kindly request considering a donation to his GoFundMe for a memorial bench at Prospect Lake instead.
