Scott Wheeler

Scott Augustus Wheeler of Victoria, BC unexpectedly passed away at home on Saturday, December 24, 2022, at the age of 61. Beloved husband of Lori (nee Moore). Loving and proud father of Nicholas (Victoria) Wheeler, Benjamin (Danica) Wheeler, Mackenzie (Flora) Wheeler and Mitchell Wheeler. Treasured Papa of Abigail Wheeler, Jillian Wheeler and Sydney Scott Wheeler. Son of the late William and Dolores Wheeler of Brussels. Brother of Dale (Judy) Wheeler, Todd (Darlene) Wheeler, Murray (Cheryl) Wheeler and Dean Wheeler.

Scott grew up in Brussels, Ontario, with a love for family and sports, particularly hockey. He attended Ridgetown College for Agronomy and would later take those skills into the golf course turfgrass industry, starting in 1990. By 1995, he would earn his status as a Certified Golf Course Superintendent, a designation few Superintendents in Canada hold. His career as a Superintendent spanned over three decades starting at West Haven Golf & Country Club, then Forest City National Golf Club, in London Ontario.

In spring 2007 Scott, Lori and their two youngest sons relocated to Victoria, BC where he would continue his career at Gorge Vale Golf Club for almost 16 years. Off the course, Scott continued playing hockey until very recently and had a love for music. His music preferences were eclectic, and he loved playing acoustic guitar. Scott also enjoyed hiking, having completed the West Coast Trail three times.

Scott’s family is inviting family and friends to join them at Gorge Vale Golf Club at 3pm on January 29th 2023, for his Celebration of Life.
