Russell Futcher

October 9, 1953 — August 6, 2020

It is with very heavy and sad hearts that we announce the passing of our father on Aug.6,2020 due to a short battle with cancer.

Russell is survived by his 2 daughters Tanya Futcher and Christina Acosta Delgado, 5 grandchildren Calvin, kalan, Logan, Diamante and Centella. Also survived by his immediate brothers Ronald (Beth), Paul (Carol) and kevin (kimberly) Futcher. Russell widow of Yvonne (Anne) Larochelle.

Russell was born in Victoria B.C. Oct.9, 1953. He was smart, loving, laid-back and a hard worker who liked to have fun. He had a deep appreciation for simple things in life, camping, boating, family vacations, wrestling and gardening.

His passion for earth began when he was young. In 1974 he began his career in Horticulture. Soon after his apprenticeship he started his own company; Futchers Gardening Service: Over the years he had a very successful business which Tanya and Christina were apart of. He always passed on his knowledge to others. Russell would always tell you the Latin names for all flowers and plants. Even during his last days, unable to speak, he would write the names down, showing his knowledge of all the things he kept dear to him. He truly was the salt of the earth.

Losing a parent is one of the hardest things we face in life, but we want to extend a huge thank you to Victoria Hopsice. We were extremely fortunate to have been able to be by Dads side during his last moments with us.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday August 30th, 2020 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at 962 Gillespie Road. Please bring an outdoor plant in Dads memory.
