Robert (Bob) Alexander Skene
June 3, 1940 – May 21st, 2026
Bob Skene passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love,
leadership, kindness, and dedication to his family and community.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 60 years, Judy; his children, Carolynn (Simon),
Owen (Laureen), and Craig (Lisa); his sister, Letty (Bob); sister-in-law, Dodie; eight
grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A Chartered Accountant with a Bachelor of Commerce from UBC, Bob built a respected
career spanning more than 35 years in finance, technology, and business leadership. He
held senior roles with organizations including Computel Systems Ltd., BC Systems Corp.,
HTS Hi-Tech Systems Ltd., WCG International Ltd., and the Vancouver Island Advanced
Technology Centre (VIATeC), helping support the growth of British Columbia’s technology
sector. He also served Royal Roads University as Chancellor, Chair of the Board, and Acting
President, reflecting his deep commitment to education, leadership, and community
service.
Above all, Bob will be remembered for the love he shared with his family and the life he built
alongside Judy. Known for his warmth, generosity, quiet wisdom, and signature cheeky
smirk, he had a wonderful ability to make others feel welcomed and valued. He treasured
family gatherings, games of crib, summers at Lake Cowichan, and travelling the world with
Judy and his family.
Bob took immense pride in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren,
celebrating every milestone with genuine joy. His steady presence, humour, and
unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather,
brother, mentor, and friend.
A Celebration of Life will be taking place on June 3rd at Uplands Golf Club from 2pm-4pm.
