Phyllis Elaine Parsons, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend to many, departed this world on December 30, 2025, in Victoria, British Columbia, at the age of 81. Born on November 21, 1944, in the serene surroundings of Prince Edward Island, Phyllis touched the lives of countless individuals throughout her journey.
Phyllis was married to John McCurry on December 30, 1963, and after raising their 5 children was remarried January 29, 2008 to her devoted husband Jim Parsons.
Phyllis was not only an adored daughter, a loving wife to her husband Jim Parsons, but also an inspiring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her dedication to her family was evident in everything she did, as she lovingly nurtured her children: Lawson McCurry (Kim), Richard McCurry (Carole), Darlene Younger (Calvin), Charles McCurry (Pam), and Jamie McCurry (Lily). Her family was her pride, and she took immense joy in watching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren flourish. Phyllis was truly blessed with an abundance of love, evidenced by the many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who carry on her legacy.
With a personality that radiated warmth and joy, Phyllis reveled in the simple pleasures of life. Whether it was gathering for a delicious meal or attending the sports events and activities of her beloved children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, she embodied a spirit that brought happiness to all around her. Phyllis enjoyed numerous activities, from shopping and bingo to taking scenic walks and going on unforgettable vacations. Remarkably, she even embraced the thrill of skating up until just a month before her passing, a testament to her zest for life.
Phyllis had an extraordinary gift for uplifting those she encountered, bringing out the very best in everyone. Her loving nature and infectious enthusiasm created a harmonious atmosphere wherever she went. Those who had the privilege of knowing her will forever remember her laughter and the comfort of her presence.
Phyllis's passing leaves a void in the hearts of her family, who cherished every moment spent with her. She is survived by her loving husband Jim, her devoted children, and her dear siblings: Shirley Lord, Charlotte Smith, Winston MacCormack, and Angus MacCormack. The warmth of her love will forever linger in their hearts.
Preceding Phyllis in death were her parents and her cherished sisters, Evelyn Lecky and Francis MacCormack, along with her brothers, Wilfred MacCormack, Clifton MacCormack, and Brad MacCormack. Additionally, her family mourns the loss of her nephew Jeremy MacCormack , niece Karen Stewart and grandson Michael McCurry, who undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms.
Phyllis Elaine Parsons will be profoundly missed by all who knew her. Her spirit, characterized by a boundless love of life and an unwavering devotion to her family, will continue to inspire those she has left behind. Forever remembered, she will live on in the joyful memories and the love shared within her family.
A service will be held in Plumas, Manitoba at the Plumas United Church on July 10th at 2pm followed by reception at Plumas Hall
A service will also be held July 16 in Prince Edward Island at the Summerside St. John's Anglican Church followed by reception at St. Mary's Hall.
