It is with much sadness that we inform family, friends, and the community of the passing of Michael Edward Clarkson on January 18 at his home in Victoria.
Michael moved to British Columbia in the late 1990s to pursue his vocational passion of forestry, after having worked in northern Ontario for many years in the industry. His passion for his work emerged early in his life, leading him to both an undergraduate degree and master's in the field.
After dedicating 25 years to the Ministry of Forestry, Michael retired in 2022, having made many progressive contributions and enjoying both his work and his colleagues. He especially enjoyed baseball events with his colleagues. Michael loved his dogs; Blue, his faithful companion for years, has since passed, and Tucker, his most recent companion, was always at his side.
Michael leaves behind his family in Ontario, who will miss his dry sense of humour, intellectual leanings, and fierce spirit of independence.
