Maurice Alexander Fernand Joseph St. Jacques (MOE)

Moe passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026, at the age of 81. Born in Ponteix, Saskatchewan, Moe moved with his family to Port Alberni at the age of six before eventually settling in Victoria in his mid-20s. He spent more than 30 years as a BC Transit Operator, earning the respect of coworkers and passengers alike through his dedication, strong work ethic, and friendly nature. He was affectionately known as "Mr. Clean", a nickname that reflected the pride he took in keeping his bus clean and well cared for. He retired in 2008 from BC Transit and started driving school bus mornings and afternoons.

Moe will be remembered as a hardworking, kind, and generous man. He had a quiet strength, a gentle spirit, and a heart that was always open to others. He was always willing to lend a hand, and if something needed doing, family, friends and neighbors knew they could count on him. His generosity, humility, and genuine care for others touched the lives of many and will be remembered by all who knew him.

Moe loved working on his beloved Ford truck, in addition to his Mustang and other older trucks he bought and refurbished. He was happiest with a wrench in his hand, tinkering in the garage, cleaning and polishing his various vehicles and ensuring his "rolling stock" was in tiptop shape.  He received many awards for his cars he entered in Victoria car shows. He enjoyed hosting his annual "Show & Tell BBQ" car shows at our home for many years. He had a remarkable knack for fixing just about anything and took great pride in caring for every corner of our home and yard. His skill, patience, and craftsmanship were evident in everything he touched. A handyman in every sense of the word.

Moe loved our Dominoes "game nights" with family and friends and was quick to "get the game going and stop the chit-chat." LOL. We spent many happy years RV'ing in Parksville with family and friends.  He found great joy in the company of our many cats over the years, and in packing a lunch for picnics down at the Breakwater. For 20 years, Moe lovingly decorated the exterior of our home each Christmas. His displays earned Best Decorated Residential Home, along with runner-up awards, and our home was proudly featured on the Christmas Light Tour.

Moe was predeceased by his father, Fernand; his mother, Lumina; and his brother, Romeo.

He is survived and will be deeply missed by his devoted wife and best friend, Diane; his children Renee (Rick), Robert (Val), Ryan (Katja), and Michelle; grandchildren Kyle (Morgan), Lexi (Bryson), Sara (Lukas), and Aly; great-grandson Baker; siblings Lorraine (Al), Dennis (Dianne), Elizabeth (George), and Theresa; and many extended family members and friends whose lives were enriched by his kindness.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the extraordinary staff at the Royal Jubilee Hospital Palliative Care Unit (8 South) for their compassionate care and support during Moe’s final weeks.

A celebration of Moe’s life will be held at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined. In lieu of flowers, donations to BC Cancer would be appreciated.
