Matthew Winkleman

April 5, 1973 — January 12, 2024

Matthew “Matty” Winkleman, 50, passed away in his sleep at home in Vancouver, BC.

Matt left family and friends bereft of a kind, loving and generous man. There are so many who miss him deeply, beginning with his wife Catherine (Cat) and parents Judith, Will (stepfather), Gary, Debbie (stepmother), and grandmother Loretta. He was brother to Dan and Alison (Graham), uncle to Elyse and Keira. Matt was predeceased by his grandfather Charles and grandparents Ed and Kay.

Matt considered his in-laws family. He is remembered by Stan and Margaret (father and mother-in-law), sister-in-law Diana (Jeff) and brother-in-law Jon (Hanna), as well as three nieces Katelyn, Alyssa and Leah and his nephew William.

Matt grew up in Swift Current SK, studied civil engineering at the University of Alberta in Edmonton and went on to become a successful project manager on many high-rise construction sites in Edmonton, Calgary, Victoria, Vancouver and Seattle.

Matt lived large and loved to travel; he loved rock music, motorcycles, cooking, and partying with friends. Most of all, time at home with Cat. He met the love of his life fourteen years ago and their beach wedding in Mexico in 2016 was a standout memorable event.

Matt wanted to go without any fuss, and he did. Matt did not want a funeral but there will be a Celebration of Life this spring. Details will be shared at a later date.
