Marguerite Jo-Anne Argue(nee McLeod)
September 14, 1945 - April 18, 2025
Marg, Margie, Mom, Nana, is how many of us knew her. She was predeceased by her parents and her loving husband, Dave. She leaves behind her children, Tina (Tom), Reg(Lisa), Dean (Monica), her sister Dawn (Bob), many nieces and nephews, Amanda (Rob), Jason(Wai), Bobby, Dianna, Valerie, Darryl, Cindy, Jody, Steven(Lori), Allan (Reah), her grandchildren, Sam (Tad), Eli, Dayminn, Breanna; great nieces Estella, Athena, Ava, Zoe, Etta, and great grand-daughter, Gracie. She lived a full and happy life, with countless memories of her family and friends. She died peacefully at Victoria General Hospital on Good Friday, April 18th, 2025, with family at her side.
From a small child, Marg had a deep faith and belief in God. Marg and Dave met in Vancouver at the Faith Baptist Church youth group, got married in 1965, and moved their little family to the North End of Vancouver Island in the early 1970s (Coal Harbour, Port Hardy). Here she was, a stay-at-home mom to her kids and everyone else who came by. There was always a coffee pot on, an extra spot at the table every meal, a listening ear, and a bed to sleep in; everyone was welcome. In the early 1990s, they moved to Nanaimo, where they lived for 10 years before relocating to Cobble Hill, and then to Lake Cowichan. Once her children grew up, she worked as a front desk manager at the Pioneer Inn in Port Hardy and later at the Best Western Northgate in Nanaimo. Her last job was managing the hot dog stand in Duncan at the Superstore with Dave. Through all the years, she was a strong force to be reckoned with, a tower of faith, and a gentle servant.
In 2007, they moved to Victoria to be near family and medical services for Dave, who passed away in 2008. She has been very involved in her local church, Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Victory Chapel, and was good friends with pastors Ademola and Ihoema Farinu. She was also very involved with her grandchildren, played a mean game of canasta with the group at Kiwanis, and was always willing to help where needed. She was known for her hats and her smile, both of which brought great joy to everyone she met.
She beat breast cancer in 1995, only to have it return in 2012, when the doctor gave her a year and a half's life expectancy. She stood firm in her faith and told the doctor her time would come when God called her home, and not a moment before. For the next 13 years, she fought the good fight and remained strong. Her last few years were spent with her family, Tina and Tom, in East Sooke, where she enjoyed watching the hummingbirds battle, sitting outside to read, baking bread and goodies, making baby blankets, chatting with Rae, and spending time with her family. She carried on as long as she could until it was her time to go home. We miss you, Nana. You will forever be in our hearts and minds. You have been the best mom and nana, the greatest cheerleader, and an example of what to aspire to. We live in the glory that you are no longer in pain, are dancing with Dad, and we will one day see you again.
Our thanks go to Sooke Hospice for your amazing support, Dr. Sayad (our GP), Dr. Bernstein from BC Cancer, and Pastors Ademola and Ihoema Farinu. We have been blessed to have you all in her life through the years. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.island.affordablecremationandburial.ca. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to the Sooke Hospice and/or BC Cancer would be appreciated. A celebration service will be held at RCCG Victory Chapel, 287 Pallisier Ave, Victoria, on Saturday, May 3, at 1:00 pm. Everyone is welcome.
