It is with great sadness that we announce, Leslie George Major (85) of Victoria, BC, passed away on Saturday, January 17th, 2026, at the Priory Long Term Care facility. Leslie was battling lung disease and vascular dementia. He fought a good fight but passed away peacefully, surrounded by love. Leslie leaves behind a very large family, three children, 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Leslie was born on June 2, 1940, in Thunder Bay Ontario to Thomas Major and Mary Elizabeth (Wyman) Major of Kenora, Ontario. There were 7 children in the family altogether. Leslie worked at Bell Canada in Ottawa, Ontario where he met Dolores Bernice Joiner. They Married in 1963 (Ottawa) and spent their years on a farm in Limoges, Ontario where they raised three children, Lesley, Sean and Danny.

Leslie roamed Canada, living in various parts of Ontario and BC. Most of his years in Kenora and Ottawa, later British Columbia. He loved hunting and fishing, spending time with his brother Jack and playing bingo.

Leslie was a wandering soul who loved his family and the outdoors. The last year of his life he had the opportunity to be surrounded by his loved ones, even some great grandchildren. He was bigger than life, always a smile and a story to tell. He will be greatly missed here on earth; however, Heaven will be entertained by Les. Rest in peace Dad, your journey is over!

Leslie’s ashes will be buried in Kenora, Ontario beside his mother during a private family funeral.
