It is with heavy hearts and overwhelming sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth William Chorney on December 28,2023. Surrounded by family and friends, Ken lost his courageous battle with cancer.
Ken was a devoted husband to his wife Emily, loving father to Michele and Melanie, caring grandfather(pops..papa) to Zachary, Alexander, Jacob and Joshua, and big brother to Joyce, Judy and Peggy.
Born in Vegreville, Alberta Ken grew up on a small farm near Two Hills, eventually moving to the big city of Edmonton where he met the love of his life Emily who worked as a cashier for Eatons where Ken was a stock boy. Their romance marriage consisted of such happiness and devotion to each other for over 57 years.
Ken was an avid athlete of many sports, starting with his semi-pro softball days, then turned to racquetball and squash where he met some of his closest and dearest friends. From there golf was his passion. Beyond the greens, Ken loved watching sports, especially the Edmonton Oilers.
Professionally, Ken worked in the electrical industry for over 40 years between Westinghouse and Union Electric until he owned his own business “Kentech Sales Ltd” for over 15 years. In 2007, he decided to retire and move to Nanaimo with Emily to be closer to Melanie and the grandkids. Then in 2012, he moved to Victoria to be even closer, and also to belong to one of his favorite golf clubs Olympic View so he could enjoy his love of golf all year round.
A Celebration of Life open house will be held at Olympic View Golf Course located at 643 Latoria Road on January 10th between 1 pm- 3pm to raise our glass to Ken. Even on the toughest days, there's always the promise of a better round tomorrow.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to be made to the
