Kelsey Nagorski

October 7, 1969 — November 22, 2024

Kelsey Lorne Nagorski (1969-2024), son of Eva Freier, passed away November 22, 2024, in Victoria, BC. He leaves to cherish his memory, daughters Natasha and Nadia, their mother Joan Goodall, his mother Eva, sisters Stefanie (Stu) and Amy Freier, aunts Alice and Theresa (Charlie), uncles Wally and Tony, cousins Gerri, Sandra, Tracey, and Nichole, and Johnny. He is predeceased by his stepfather, Paul Freier.

Kelsey lived much of his young life in Neepawa, Manitoba. He had a very close relationship with his grandpa, John Pylatyk, and Baba, Mary Bercier. With his grandpa, Kelsey enjoyed playing backgammon and pool, and fishing at River Bend Park. His Baba fed him well and instilled in Kelsey a love of perogies.

Kelsey could whistle and tune and notoriously tormented his mother with a kazoo on a long road trip to Calgary one summer. After his mother remarried, Kelsey welcomed two sisters, Stefanie and Amy, and he played the role of a mischievous older brother. Kelsey and his friends would often try to see how many long words they could get 3-year-old Stefanie to say, including supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

In his early 20s, Kelsey moved to Victoria, BC where he honed his skills as a chef and started his family. He worked hard and enjoyed feeding his family and guests at restaurants he worked at over the years. The Christmas ham of 2001 looms large in our memories.

One of his proudest achievements was the opportunity to be a devoted father to his daughters, Natasha and Nadia. Kelsey lived to make his girls smile, sometimes at the sacrifice of his own manhood and pride. He often sported bright blue toenails at the pool alongside his tattoos filled in with all shades of pink and purple. They will forever have many memories to help them through this life without him.

This was an especially difficult year for Kelsey, as he lost his childhood best friend, Chris Siatecki, in September. Chris and Kelsey grew up together and moved west to Vancouver Island in quick succession, where they remained friends all their lives.

We will miss you more than you will ever know. You will always be our shining star. We will miss the twinkle in your eyes.

A celebration of life will occur in the coming months.
