With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our younger brother John Edwin Paxton. John was born in Victoria, BC on May 3, 1966 and passed after a courageous battle with cancer on June 29, 2025.
John grew up with his parents, four older sisters and younger brother on a small farm in Victoria and spent his early years enjoying 4H, playing baseball, skiing and bike riding. John was very athletic and took to most sports easily.
John was very hardworking and spent many years working with Paterson/Colonial Countertops. His bike was his mode of transportation and he loved riding along the Galloping Goose trail, with frequent visits to his favorite bars and restaurants.
The man was strong, tenacious and ever hopeful for the future. We are thankful to have been able to support him through this journey. It was a rough road that no one should have to endure alone. Cancer is a merciless disease.
John was blessed with having many very good friends - Rob, Kevin, Mike, Doug, and Mark. We are so grateful for their love, support and compassion for our brother.
John was predeceased by his parents, Jack Paxton and Crystal Paxton. He leaves behind his loving sisters Carolyn (Steve), April (Alfred), Jacqueline (Wayne), Leslie (Jim) and his baby brother Jeremy (Rachel). He also leaves his nieces Brea and Faith, and nephews Cole, Mitch, Wyatt and Luke.
We send our heartfelt thanks to the nurses, doctors, staff and volunteers at BC Cancer and Victoria Hospice. No words can express how grateful we are for their care, compassion and gentle kindness in his last few weeks.
Cheers to our bro, John, JP, Johnboy, Johnny, Juan, Johnameis and Juan John. We rang the Hospice Bell for you and had cheers with your favorite Van Gogh Espresso vodka.
Mwah Mwah from your ‘gals’ and your brother Jeremy.
