James William Hugh Hamilton, better known as Bill or “Uncle Bill,” and “Popop” passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026, surrounded by his family.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife Sue, his son Hamish, daughter‑in‑law Shannon, his grandchildren August and Hugh, and his sisters Janie and Sara.
Originally from England, Bill came to Canada in 1967 . Known for his distinctive personality, generous spirit, honesty and a deep loyalty to his friends and family, he became a familiar and much-loved presence in Vancouver. This past summer, he and Sue moved to Victoria to be closer to their son and family.
He had a lifelong love of building and fixing things and was always ready to lend a hand.
Bill's legacy lives on in his many building projects, well‑used tools, his love of his family and the many friendships he fostered over the years.
