Gerry Dady

May 15, 1930 — September 1, 2024

Alfred Gerald Dady (or Ged) was born in Ladysmith to Alfred and Anna (Fisher) Dady, and attended Ladysmith High School. In his youth he set chokers and worked in several small sawmills, drilled water wells, and for five years worked at the Chemainus mill.

While there he met local girl Marg Savory. They moved to Victoria and married in 1957, and were still holding hands 67 years later, until she died in April, 2024. They settled in Colwood and raised four children.

He was the head shipper in a plumbing warehouse, and a plumber on the weekends. In his spare time he liked to work, which defined him. He also liked the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and camping. He always left more firewood at a campsite than was there when he arrived. For thirty years Marg and Ged created a second home on Hornby Island, and made many friends there.

He was predeceased by his wife, his five siblings and their partners, and son-in-law Dave Korman. He leaves children Pete (Cheryl), Kim Korman, Bethia Williams, Chris (Karen), grandson Kerry Williams, and sister-in-law Janet Savory, as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Glengarry Hospital for the fine care he received.”
