Gerald St Laurent

November 25, 1947 — August 8, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald "Gerry" St. Laurent. Gerry was born in Vancouver, BC, and through the years lived and worked in many places throughout BC, such as Richmond, Tumbler Ridge, North Vancouver, Missezula Lake, and finally in Sooke, BC. He worked successfully in several fields, including mining and property management with BC Housing, but it would be safe to say that his proudest accomplishments were in his service to others.

Gerry was a 28 year member of the Lions, serving as a member in the clubs of Mt. Seymour (North Van.) Princeton, and Sooke, and in this time received the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award, the Judge Brian Stevenson award, and most recently the Lion of the Year award (2022-23). His dedication to his community was most recently apparent in the endless hours he spent caring for Harbour View Cemetery, collecting food for the Sooke Food Bank, and leading the way in ensuring local schools had food programs and other much needed resources. He was the king of pancake breakfasts, always served with a joke or a hug.

Gerry's warmth, kindness and humor made him an instant friend to so many. The kindest of neighbours, he was always happy to help with a move, a renovation or to just sit and have a beer. He made time for anyone who needed him, and impacted the lives of many with his generosity.

Gerry is survived by his beloved wife Ann Marie, his daughters Jocelyn (h. Kaz) and Tannis Marie (h. Jeremy), and step children Sarah (h. Jason) and Shannon (h. Trevor), his siblings Joanne (h. Greg), Dave (w. Barb), Sharon, Tracy (h. Brent), Kerry (w. Heather), and his pride and joy, his grandkids, Anthony, Kyle, Matthew, Lane, Sabrina, Ryan, Parker and Ellie. As well, many nieces, nephews and other extended family too numerous to name individually, but loved enormously all the same. And of course Georgie the dog, who misses his dad.

Gerry is predeceased by his parents Douglas and Louise, and his sister Elaine.

Gerry will undoubtedly be remembered most for his love of his family, friends, community, Hawaiian shirts and sappy Hallmark Christmas Movies... and Fireball Whisky.

A public service for Gerry will be held on September 16, 2023 at EMCS Community School Gymnasium, starting at 2PM.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the BC Cancer Society, any Food Bank, any Lions Club, or any other charity of your choosing - Gerry supported any kind of giving to those in need.
