Esther Hope Lewis (Nee deCosta, formerly Terpenning) passed peacefully on December 6th, 2024 at the age of 69, after a short illness.
Esther was born on July 16th 1955, in Victoria. She loved island life, and Salt Spring Island held a special place in her heart, with many a summer spent enjoying the quiet.
She leaves behind her two beloved daughters, Alison (Laura) Terpenning, and Deanne Terpenning, and her cherished grandson, Jonah. She was so loved by so many, and affectionately known as “Mom” to countless people. Esther was always ready with a supportive shoulder and a big laugh to anyone who needed it.
Esther spent over 30 years working at London Drugs, charming her coworkers and customers alike. She was especially proud of the work she did there as a trainer.
She lived a simple life, with great love for getting her nails done, candy (especially wine gums), “her ladies”, and friends from near and far.
As a loyal Canucks fan, she was no stranger to disappointment, but her cheers whenever they scored could be heard down the block.
A private service will be held in mid-December. In lieu of flowers, donations would be gratefully appreciated to the Canucks for Kids Fund.
