Eileen was born in Hong Kong to Charles Homer and Marjorie Hope Douglas. As war was coming the family was soon evacuated back to Victoria.
She spent many an early morning searching out rocks for skipping stones on Willows Beach before school. Eileen enjoyed English, French and History. She had a lively sense of humour and enjoyed making good puns.
After she married Philip Harrison Connolly, they moved to Portland Oregon where Philip was employed at the Public Library. They returned to Canada in 1962 and settled in Edmonton. They eventually landed in Lethbridge where Brian, Kathleen and Tim were born. Eileen and Phil retired to Nanaimo. After Phil died in 2004, Eileen moved to Victoria. This move allowed her to create a restful and beautiful garden that helped her through her various health issues and a reduced mobility.
Eileen went peacefully into God's hands early on Saturday August 24, 2024. She will be greatly missed by Kathleen (Jim) and Tim (Jenny) and her grandchildren Emily, Neil, Nik, Sasha and Maks.
