Douglas Gordon Lumb
December 09, 1949 – July 24, 2024
It is with a great deal of sadness that our family wishes to announce that we have said our final goodbye to Doug – husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend to many.
Doug was employed by BC Tel, later Telus, for 38 years and volunteered tirelessly when he was able, in the following volunteer communities:
- A founding member of the Sooke Marine Search and Rescue Society
- Sooke Community Association
- Sooke Lions Club
- Masonic Lodge
- BC Shriners (Cowichan Valley Shrine Club)
- Parent volunteer with 4-H
Along with many others…
Doug is remembered lovingly by his wife Becky (54 years), daughters Nicole (Josh and 3 boys, Colton, Elijah, & Brock), Katie (Dwayne); his sister Susan (Doug) & nephews Mark and Michael, their wives their children; brother-in-law Mike and nephew Kyle. We are sure that Doug is happily reunited with his family, friends, and pets who have gone before him.
We would like to give our heartfelt thanks to the medical team members who have helped give Doug the best care possible over the years. A special thanks to Teri and Doris for your kind support and help taking care of Doug at home.
It has been a long journey and Doug will be forever in our hearts.
We kindly ask that in lieu of flowers donations in Doug’s name be made to:
BC Children’s Hospital
BC Shriner’s Hospital for Children
Or
BC Heart and Stroke Foundation
