Obituary for Denise Crawford (Nee Geib)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Denise Crawford on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at the age of 69. Born on April 28, 1955, in Saskatchewan to Hank and Alice Geib, Denise grew up in Strasbourg, Saskatchewan, where she was known as a beautiful and precocious child.
From an early age, Denise exhibited a remarkable aptitude for figure skating amongst other things, but it was her gift for connecting with people that truly defined her. Her life was a grand adventure, traveling across the world and the United States, meeting people from all walks of life and forming lasting friendships.
Denise married James Cobbs, who pre-deceased her in 2023. Despite being told she could not have children, she was blessed with her only child, Jamieson Cobbs, born on November 21, 1977.
It was her travels back to Canada, Saskatoon Saskatchewan specifically in which Denise fell deeply in love with Douglas Crawford from Texas, and together they embarked on a lengthy and passionate romance of over 30 years.
Denise's love for adventure was matched by her enthusiasm for YouTube Premium, where she enjoyed watching shows about camping, like "Camping with Steve," and the gripping series "The Walking Dead,” amongst many other series and shows.
A staunch advocate for social justice, Denise's generous spirit knew no bounds. She often opened her home to strangers during the holidays, providing food, clothing, and even the shirt off her back to those in need. Her compassion and kindness touched many lives.
Denise was also an exceptional cook. She and Douglas owned a restaurant in Strasbourg, Saskatchewan, called "Bing Bong's," which became the talk of the town and enjoyed great success for a time.
Denise was a sweet and loving woman whose absence leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her. She was taken from us far too soon, but we find solace in knowing she is now free from the pain of aging.
We love you so very much Denise and take comfort in the knowledge that you are resting easy.
Your memory will forever be cherished.
Denise is survived by her beloved husband Douglas Crawford, and her son Jamieson Cobbs and countless friends and loved ones.
