James David Richard Julian Matland June 18, 1940 – April 29, 2024
David passed away peacefully at Victoria General Hospital, after a long fulfilling life of achievements.
He was born in Brighton and moved to Norway until he was 12. He came to Canada in 1966 and worked for CP hotels in Banff and Victoria. His career also included BC Ferries and finally as a staff representative for BCGEU.
After official retirement David enjoyed working for the Commissionaires and DND. He was awarded a Commissionaires medal for bravery by Iona Campagnolo.
David met his wife Jackie in 1962, and after living on separate continents for 33 years they reunited and married.
David and Jackie had wonderful adventures across BC and the world, enjoying freedom in their motor home.
David will be remembered for his love of current affairs, boats, the Navy, and a good steak on the BBQ.
David will be dearly missed by his wife Jackie, Sarah, Catherine, Matteo, Pukman, and the grandchildren.
