Anna-Maria D’Amato

03/14/1959 - 06/27/2025

Anna-Maria D’Amato, a bright spark in the world and a true original, passed away far too soon on June 27, 2025, with her children, Stefanie and Danny, at her side. Anna was a mother, a friend, a fierce advocate, and a woman who lived life entirely on her own terms. She will be deeply missed.

A proud dog mom to Rocky, cycling enthusiast, fashionista, and self-declared MacGyver, everything she did was done with flair. She could fix just about anything with a roll of tape and a raised eyebrow. She made friends wherever she went—from the dance floor to the soccer field (walking soccer, of course) to the bowling alley and beyond.

She had an unforgettable laugh and an appetite for adventure that brought her from Vancouver to Calgary to Kelowna and finally to Victoria, where she happily declared she had finally found where she was meant to be—a true ‘island girl’ at heart. A natural chef, everything she cooked was legendary, but the most requested were her lasagna and cheesecake.

Anna marched to the beat of her own drum, always ready to fight for what was right and stick up for the little guy. Even in her final days, she was focused on getting the broken elevator in her apartment building fixed. Not for herself, but for the other people in her building who needed it. She always showed so much care and compassion for everyone around her.

A loyal friend and thoughtful neighbour, she gave freely of her time and her story, volunteering to help others navigate tough roads she’d already walked. Anna was a survivor with a zest for life who made people feel seen, heard, and never alone. Her optimism and strength were unsurpassed. In our eyes, she was fearless.

Above all, she was a loving mother—wise, warm, and always just a phone call away with the answers. Loved beyond measure, she will remain forever in our hearts.
